Life in the Texas Hill
Country...It's a Whole
Other State of Mind!
With so many gorgeous places around
the state, around the country and indeed around the world, why would
you choose the Hill Country above any other place? The reasons are almost
limitless, but here are some that crop up time and again in conversations
with residents, both new and old. Variety
Texas is a state of
great contrasts and nowhere is that more evident in the region commonly
known as the Hill Country. From the rolling hills with hidden caves,
to Enchanted Rock and the state parks, from tumbling rivers offering
great fishing to towering oak trees Hill Country is quite frankly one
of the most exquisite places to live. Hill Country Beauty
The Hill Country encompasses
52 cities and towns, each with a different ‘flavor’. Fredericksburg
is uniquely German in feel while San Marcos combines tourist attractions
such as the Aquarena Tours with the quintessential college town feel.
Each season brings its own inimitable sense of style. People flock from all over the country in the spring to photograph the roadsides and open fields as they are covered in a veritable blanket of riotous color. Not to be outdone summer heralds the arrival of river tubing, boating on one of the many lakes, swimming and enjoying the great outdoors. Colorful autumn comes late the season, spilling red, orange and yellow leaves where just a few months earlier the flowers had dwelt. Winter, which is short in duration, is a welcome cool breeze, perfect for crisp evenings out celebrating the winter holiday season with friends.
Housing
Almost any style of
home is available to today’s buyer, from a cozy cottage to a rambling
ranch. The only limit is how much you, as the discerning buyer, is prepared
to spend. With such a huge area to choose from you can select a house
in town, or decide to go completely rural and stay away from the ‘bright
lights, big city’. Commutability
Infrastructure
has never been better and even though you may decide to live the rugged
life, your vehicle does not have to suffer! Larger cities, offering
such conveniences as major grocery stores, outlet malls and technology
stores are within a couple of hours drive of any location in the Hill
Country.
Nature in your back yard
Texas
has a large diversity of wild animals, everything from wildlife white
tailed deer, mockingbirds and armadillos make their home among the hills
and will wander across your garden and sample the plants if you let
them. If bird watching is your passion you can’t do much better than
the Hill Country that sees more than its fair share of migratory birds.
Fishing is abundant too, and with so many rivers and fish to choose
from, your only question is, “Where do I begin?”
Security
Do you remember The
Andy Griffith Show? How many fell in love with the fictional town of
Mayberry? Mayberry is not fictional here in the Hill Country where it
is common practice for people to leave all their doors unlocked when
they go out. Some even forget to lock their cars when they’re in a
store or grabbing a bite to eat. One aspect of Texas country living
is its safety record. All of the towns report lower than average criminal
statistics in all areas of crime and this adds to the Hill Country’s
already considerable charm. What are you waiting for? The Hill Country is the slice of paradise you’ve been looking for.
